Across the Northeast and beyond

Rail to ferry, city to city.

New York & Connecticut

NYC subway and NYC Ferry schedules, predictions and alerts. CTrail Hartford Line and Shore Line East schedules; Amtrak service is listed separately.

Boston & the Bay Area

MBTA trains, buses and ferries, including Hingham–Boston service. Bay Area schedules include BART, Muni, Caltrain and San Francisco Bay Ferry.

Boston ferries use waterfront terminals, not South Station itself.

Tokyo, Japan

Toei schedules: Asakusa, Mita, Shinjuku and Oedo subway lines, Sakura Tram and Nippori–Toneri Liner. Search Japanese or English station names; times use Japan Standard Time. Static schedules only; check feed freshness before travel.

Tokyo Metro, JR East and Kyoto subway remain on the research list. Shinkansen is not covered.

Europe & Britain

Eurostar and SNCF schedules, with on-demand realtime where the provider supplies usable updates. Check each feed's readiness below. Eurostar's London realtime coverage is incomplete.

National Rail, London's TfL and Swiss national transport are pending access or validation. They are not yet queryable.

Washington, DC & Northern Virginia

Fairfax Connector and Arlington ART: station search, selected route schedules and on-demand predictions; Fairfax service alerts too. Includes published Fairfax express routes into downtown DC. Metro/Metrobus and VRE await API redistribution permission; DASH awaits source access. See each feed's loaded routes and dates below.

On the research list

Seastreak, Bridgeport–Port Jefferson, Cross Sound Ferry and Martz are discovery entries. Their schedules and live updates are not yet queryable here.

Coverage grows as you use it

Station search helps you discover service; it does not mean every timetable is loaded. Schedule queries request missing or older route bundles for a background update. The directory below shows what has been imported, its dates, and queued updates.

Live arrivals are fetched when you ask and cached briefly. Static schedules use a daily demand check, with gradual monthly seeding and a 2-million-write monthly import budget. Updates may wait when that budget is used. Earlier setup imports are outside this new allowance.

Feed directory

Coverage without guesswork.

“Configured” means a source is set up. The next tag shows whether schedules are loaded and current. Live updates are fetched when you ask; planned and discovery sources are not yet queryable.

Capability tags show what penn.fyi can provide. “Source only” means fare information exists but we cannot yet calculate it here. Ticket availability means seats or capacity, not whether a service runs. NYC Ferry also has reviewed adult single-ticket estimates where marked. Estimates use purchase dates and expire unless reviewed again. No live ticket quotes, capacity checks or booking.

Closed beta

Connect your transit assistant.

Transit queries are available to approved members through a connected app. The website query lab is closed during the beta.

Add penn.fyi to Claude

  1. Add a custom connector with URL https://mcp.penn.fyi/mcp.
  2. Turn on Requires sign-in. Leave Client ID and Client secret blank.
  3. Enter your approved email, then the six-digit code in the same sign-in window.

ChatGPT: create a custom MCP app with the same URL and OAuth enabled. Client registration is automatic.

Access is approved manually during the beta. Already connected without sign-in? Re-add your connector after approval.

Request access.

Leave your email for manual review. A request does not create an account or grant access.

We store your email and request date for access review, separately from transit queries. Cloudflare Turnstile checks this form for automated abuse.

Built for honest answers

A directory is not a promise.

01

Source-aware

Official schedules and unofficial realtime stay clearly separated.

02

Freshness-aware

Responses say when the underlying data was observed or ingested.

03

Rights-aware

Raw provider artifacts remain private unless redistribution is explicit.
